PUNE, Better performance, precision, convenience: Testo fulfils the increased markets demands and raises the efficiency bar yet again with the new generation of digital manifolds. The highlight is the App for wireless integration of mobile devices into the new manifolds testo 550 and testo 557. The new entry-level model testo 549, with its attractive price-performance ratio, is intended to convince analog users of the advantages of digital manifolds.

Bluetooth and App allow the user new possibilities for convenient analysis and documentation. Wireless transmission technology with the App provides added convenience and economy, especially when working in difficult-to-access places or on large plants.

Connectivity and convenience thanks to App
The App connects Android and iOS mobile instruments to the testo 550 and testo 557 manifolds via Bluetooth. Via the App connection, the measurement data can be comfortably read off on a Smartphone. The user can update the 60 stored refrigerants directly on site. The measurement data can be finalized in the App, and sent by e-mail. This saves considerable time for the user, providing a convenient increase of flexibility.

Comprehensive optimization for increasing demands
The App for the new manifolds testo 550 and testo 557 is one of many new developments with which Testo are once again meeting the requirements of the market, and underlining their expertise in refrigeration. A further highlight is the the Pirani probe developed by Testo for the new testo 557, which allows highly precise vacuum measurements.

The new generation is more robust than ever, for example thanks to an additional metal frame for the display. Apart from this, all digital manifolds are now water- and dirt-resistant according to protection class IP42. Among other steps for more secure operation is a menu structure which has been further simplified and extended by automatic functions. For instance, the testo 557 automatically selects the evacuation mode as soon as the user connects the new Pirani probe. The external probe is an example of the increased performance of the new manifolds: the measuring range has been extended to 60 bar, and the battery life increased to 250 hours. With the new generation, 60 common refrigerants are now stored in the manifold.

Because every drop is valuable – the new cooking oil tester testo 270

With the testo 270, Testo AG launches the new generation of their proven cooking oil tester testo 270 onto the market. With it, the measurement technology specialist from the Black Forest enables the quality of cooking oil to be determined even faster. This ensures the quality of deep-fried foods, and reduces expenditure for cooking oil by up to 20 %.

The cooking oil tester testo 270 measures the Total Polar Material (TPM) content in the cooking oil, which is a sure indicator of its quality. This is the reason why the polar materials may not exceed a certain limit, depending on the country. Cooking oil develops its best potential between 14 and 20 % TPM. If the oil is too old, it shows an increased TPM value, and deep-fried goods of inferior quality are produced. It can furthermore contain substances which present a risk to health. Regular measurement with the testo 270 prevents this. The use of the measuring instrument also prevents the wastage of cooking oil due to too early replacement. It reduces cooking oil consumption by up to 20 %.

Safety in daily use
The strength of the probe shaft has been considerably improved over the previous model. In addition to this, the new cooking oil tester has more robust connections between the housing, the probe shaft and the sensor. Since the measuring instrument fulfils the protection class IP65 even without an additional protective case, cleaning it under running water is no problem – ideal for use in quick-service restaurants.

However the most obvious feature of the new testo 270 is its ergonomic design. This has the advantage that the user is no longer directly exposed to the the heat from the deep-fryer when taking the measurement, allowing him to work more safely.

Even more intuitive thanks to traffic light system
The measuring instrument's 86% larger display considerably simplifies the reading of temperature and TPM values. The unmistakeable alarm provided by multi-colour backlighting makes it even easier to evaluate the quality of the cooking oil: Green means that the TPM content is below the set limit value, orange is close to it, and when the display lights up red, the limit value has been exceeded.

Significantly reduces costs
Extensive practical tests by Testo engineers have demonstrated that regular measurementwith the testo 270 reduces the consumption of cooking oil by up tp 20 %. With a consumption of 1,000 litres per year and assuming a price of 0.70 € per litre, this allows 1,680 € to be saved annually.

Safe maintenance of electrical systems with thermal imagers from Testo

Operate electrical systems with the greatest possible security.

Faulty electrical connections or overload conditions in switching systems, electrical distribution boxes and electric drives can lead to costly production downtimes or even fire damage. The regular inspection of all electrical installations with a precise Testo thermal imager helps to minimize this risk of standstill. This allows anomalies to be identified reliably and effectively at a glance, and the required measures taken.

The challenge

Roughly 70% of all weak spots in electrical systems can be traced to faulty clamp connections. Due to aging, incorrect installation, mechanical load or damage to the system components, electrical energy is converted into heat, which can lead to dangerous overheating – with potentially catastrophic consequences: Machines can break down, production lines come to a standstill, or system components even burst into flames. Whether you wish to test transformers, electrical distribution boxes, switching systems or electric drives: Testo thermal imager models can be used on all electrical systems for localizing faulty electrical connections, for discovering asymmetrical load distribution or for identifying overload conditions of any kind.

The solution

Testo thermal imagers show the surface temperature distribution of the measured electrical components at a glance. This allows weak spots to be identified quickly and early, before costly breakdowns can occur – faulty parts can be repaired or replaced. The great advantage of thermographic testing with Testo thermal imagers is that technical systems can be examined completely without contact. The continuing operation of the system to be tested therefore does not need to be interrupted.

The system availability is increased by regular inspections. Unplanned standstills and the risk of fire decrease. The highest possible level of security is guaranteed for the people working with the system, for the system itself and for the entire operation. The use of Testo thermal imagers also lowers the maintenance and energy costs of the whole system – by avoiding unexpected urgent repair work and by optimizing the quantities of energy used.

Efficient measurement and analysis of indoor climate with the VAC measuring instruments from Testo

The wide range of electronic instruments for the measurement of Indoor Air Quality available on the market reflects the many requirements in this area. Numerous parameters such as temperature, humidity, pressure or CO2 must be recorded, analyzed and documented. The professional groups carrying out measurements in the field of air conditioning and ventilation are equally varied: from contractors to plumbing, heating and air conditioning experts or plant constructors, up to expert appraisers or assessors. However, these users often apply only measuring instruments which are able to record one or two parameters belonging to their main activities. Yet especially those instruments which can measure almost all IAQ parameters support the efficient processing and management of the corresponding data. They would considerably facilitate work for all professional groups in air conditioning and ventilation technology.

The challenge

A plumbing, heating and air conditioning expert uses an infrared temperature measurement to check insulation work on a heating system. Complex documentation is not necessary, so that as a rule, an entry instrument is sufficient. However, as soon as commisioning, installation, inspection or maintenance of ventilation and air conditioning systems (VAC) is necessary, more complex measurements are often required. For example, if there is a lack of well-being in open-plan offices, it becomes necessary to analyze draughts, uncomfortable temperatures or fatigue due to high CO2 concentrations. Such measurements can take several hours or days, and cannot be managed with an entry instrument. It is recommended in such cases that professional measurement technology is used, which is able not only to measure many different parameters, but also to analyze and correspondingly document them for the customer.

The solution

Modern measuring instruments such as the VAC measuring instrument testo 480 have a high level of convenience for the user, as well as efficient analysis, processing and management of large quantities of data using PC software. They support the customer with integrated measurement programs which allow fast and standardized measurement. What makes them special is the large selection of digital probes which provide considerable advantages. On the one hand they appreciably extend the area of activity of the user. There is hardly an IAQ measurement which cannot be conducted. On the other hand, the probes produce a digital signal which is transferred to the measuring instrument completely without any loss of information, and free of error. The technical measurement intelligence is thus in the probe itself. This means it can be calibrated even without using a portable instrument, avoiding downtime costs and substantially simplifying the entire calibration process. testo 480 with its probes fulfils numerous standards such as grid measurement of a VAC system according to EN 12599. The technician is prepared for everything, works quickly, obtains error-free measurement results and can present them to his customer directly on site. The customer can be certain that the technician conducts all relevant measurements and can adjust the VAC system according to the standards. And not only that, people have a greater sense of well-being, and it has been proven that they perform better at the workplace when the indoor climate is right. In addition to this, an efficiently adjusted system can avoid high energy costs. That saves the customer money.
